Premium Estates Coffee
Located in the Villa Rica district of the Pasco region of central Peru, a renowned coffee-growing area, Premium Estates Coffee is committed to supplying exceptional origin coffee from single farms and family farms directly to our partners in Europe. With altitudes reaching 1,700 meters, we ensure quality and sustainability through meticulous hand-picking and processing at our central mill. Premium Estates owns two farms, San Crispín and Sudetia del Sur, where all coffee is processed locally at the farm's wet mill. Additionally, some coffees are sourced from smaller neighboring farms, including Llave de Oro, to maintain a diverse and high-quality offering.
Local Sourcing
Our main supplier in Peru is Elciario Naranjo, an experienced producer introduced to us by our friend Mark Russel of Khipu Coffee. Elciario is the owner and operator of Premium Estates Coffee, where we work closely with his team of coffee processing and quality control experts. Working alongside our EU lab to ensure that all coffee meets the highest quality standards, allowing us to streamline logistics and maintain the integrity of our products throughout the supply chain.
Geisha variety
This Geisha was rediscovered on this farm about 10 years ago. The shape of the plant and the apricot flavour of the fruit caught the attention of producers. Talking to other producers, they came to the conclusion that it was a Geisha seed brought from Panama in the 1990s. Now we have about 5 hectares of Geisha at 1,700 meters above sea level, the highest altitude on this farm.
With our exclusive Geisha variety, this coffee is selectively harvested, washed and pulped on the same day. It is fermented for 30 hours and dried in solar dryers.
Floral and aromatic, it has delicate tea qualities, with notes of jasmine, bergamot and a bright acidity that highlights its complexity.
Sustainability
At Premium Estates we are committed to sustainability through responsible farming practices.
Some of the lots are 100% shade-grown coffee under a canopy of native trees, which improves biodiversity, protects the soil from erosion and provides habitats for local wildlife. This method not only improves the quality of the coffee, but also contributes to the overall health of the ecosystem.
Water Conservation: We apply efficient water management practices on our farms, using rainwater harvesting systems and ensuring that water used in processing is treated and recycled. This minimises our impact on local water resources and reduces our environmental footprint.
