SPECIALTY COFFEE La Bendicion - NICARAGUA
Luis Alberto Balladarez Mocada is the producer and owner of the farms Las Segovias, Un Regalo de Dios and La Bendición, which can be said when looking at the property. The farm is located in the Dipilto-Jalapa mountain range, which is located in the northeast of the department of Nueva Segovia. The land is home to a rich and biodiverse environment with a wide variety of flora and fauna on 252 acres, of which 105 are dedicated to coffee plantations.
Luis Alberto has a true passion for specialty coffee and knows his trade like no other. He won 6th place in the Cup of Excellence in 2021 after taking 1st place in 2020, so it's no surprise that his coffeeis tremendous value. His knowledge of coffee comes from three generations of family legacy, his great passion translates into the care he puts into the production process. His eye and care for details are impeccable and start from the first moment with the picking of the cherries on the farm. The coffee from La Bendición is transported to the Beneficio Las Segovias, where Luis Alberto ensures that each coffee process follows controlled protocols.
One thing that makes Luis's coffee so unique is its exceptional drying process. Here, the key is the stability that Luis and his squad maintain. They also offer washed coffees and honeys that are dried for 20 to 25 days, and natural for 30 to 35 days, a little longer. The exceptionality of coffee does not start only with the processing, but the plants grow in ideal conditions. The combination of the rich biodiversity of the land, the loose sandy soil and the annual rainfall, creates a perfect environment for them, where you can find some varieties such as Caturra, Red Catuai, Hybrids, Villa Sarchi, Pacamara, Maracaturra, H-3. , Marseillaise, SL-28 and Java.
