SPECIALTY COFFEE from Brazil Olaria
Alessandra Peloso is a producer of specialty coffees in the city of Boa Esperança, in the south of Minas Gerias. Together with her daughter and her granddaughter, she continues the work started by her grandparents in the same region almost a hundred years ago. Along with other prominent women coffee farmers, she is one of the women represented by Flor de Café in Europe through the “proudly grown by great women” seal, a special project that seeks to recognize the work of women in Brazilian coffee farming.
The Mundo Novo Variety Coffee, which Alessandra cared for and harvested with such care, was grown at Fazenda Olaria at about 900 meters of altitude, on 12 hectares of crops surrounded by 5 hectares of preserved native forests and a water source. A coffee winner of a regional contest for the combination of notes of peach, pineapple, dulce de leche and a floral touch.
The farm is located in the Atlantic Forest Biome, which corresponds to 13.04% of the Brazilian national territory. Together with the Flor de Café environmental team, the farm is being mapped and the native trees are being classified and catalogued.
