Specialty Coffee Lamari, PAPUA NEW GUINEA
Lamari is the name of a river in the Estern Highlands coffee region of Papua New Guinea, where this batch comes from.
This coffeeis the result is the work of small local producers.
They cultivate coffee with dedication and process the cherries using the washing method, separating lots by quality, density and cherry size.
Once the ideal moisture level is obtained in the drying process, the batches are transferred to the dry mill.
Then, the parchment is threshed, separating it from the grain, and the coffee is prepared for export.
The demand and cultivation of specialty coffee has changed the lives of the families of these small producers in PNG.
This improves their resources and fights poverty in remote rural areas, where 85% of the country’s coffee is grown.
